About Campus Laguna


 

¿What is TEC de Monterrey (ITESM Educational System)?

 It is a multi-campus System which:

  • Provides a quality of education second to none in Latin America.
  • Internationally oriented.
  • Efficiently responds to the needs of its students, the community and of the country itself.

Is composed of:

  • 33 campuses in 27 different cities throughout the Republic of Mexico.
  • 95,000 students, 3,500 of them from across the globe.
  • 7,600 professors.
     

The Laguna Campus belongs to the Northern Rectory, along with campuses located in Chihuahua, Cd. Juarez, Saltillo, Tampico and Zacatecas.

The Laguna Campus is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), to grant undergraduate and masters degrees.

In May 1975, the Laguna Campus opened as a result of a collective effort of a group of local businessmen who were concerned with the need of developing academically trained professionals to support the growth of the area.

          Campus Laguna offers international students the opportunity to get to know more about Mexico’s art and culture, the Spanish language and the Mexican business environment. 

            Tec de Monterrey is an active participant in the world of international education and is a member of several consortia and professional associations in the USA and Europe, which makes it one of the most internationally oriented and active universities in Latin America.

 

 


 

Virtual University

The Virtual University is an educational innovation that breaks with the traditional methods of education. The professors may either deliver class from one of 26 campuses of The ITESM Educational System or classes may originate from a foreign university. The student attends class in one of the air conditioned classrooms, which is equipped with state-of-the-art audiovisual and computer equipment permitting the student to interact with the professor. The Virtual University supports high school, undergraduate and graduate level programs.

 

Manufacturing workshop and Engineering Laboratory

The Engineering laboratory has an integrated manufacturing workshop where students are able to practice the programming and administration of a productive plant. This workshop is equipped with robots, numerical control machines and visual systems.

 Library Information Center

The ITESM Campus Laguna library is one of dents have access to the most advanced electronic information services, national and international databases, and CD ROM encyclopedias and magazines. The library also offers access to the world information highway through modern computerized laboratory.

 

Technology Information Center

The Laguna campus offers computers for both students and professors. The Campus is connected to the ITESM System network, which allows access to national and international data bases such as major university libraries and The Library of Congress.

 

The World Wide Web

Students enrolled at Tec de Monterrey will each have a personal e-mail account and total access to the Internet at no additional cost.

 

Ninety Eight percent of Campus Laguna professors hold a master degree. Over 98 percent of the Professors are enrolled in graduate programs at the doctoral level.
